Back on the Podium!
February 2022
Gabriel was back up on the podium for the first Club Championship round at Warwick Kart Club over the weekend. Gridding was Format 17 (random, reverse, points, points), with all points counting towards the final result.
Heat 1 saw Gabriel start in 14th position and make way up to finish in 4th.
In Heat 2, Gabriel started in 6th and came home in 2nd.
Gabriel’s hard work in the first two races meant that he was positioned well for the Prefinal, starting in 3rd place. It was an intense battle throughout the race between the top two, with Gabriel finishing right on the tail of 1st place.
Starting in 2nd for the Final, Gabriel got off to a great start and maintained his position throughout the race.
Gabriel ended up in 2nd place on the podium and achieved the fastest lap time of the day!
Many thanks to KAOS Karting , MG Engines, Energy Corse Australia and Dave Sera for all your advice and support.
Thank you to all of the Officials, volunteers and competitors for another fun weekend!
Strong Return Performance as a "Rookie"
February 2022
Gabriel returned to Lismore Kart Club for the first time since he won the Young Guns event last year in July. In 2021 he was in the "Novice" class (Cadet 9) and he has since upgraded to "Rookie' (Cadet 12) in KNSW.
Gabriel's practice session was strong, with times comparable to the top local talents. He qualified 2nd and finished in 2nd for each of the Heat races and the Final, securing the silver step.
Another podium finish for the team: Dave Sera, Energy Corse Australia, MG Engines, and KAOS Karting !!!
Thanks to all of the Officials, volunteers and competitors for an awesome weekend.
Double Podium Weekend!
March 2022
It was race, eat, sleep, repeat at Warwick Kart Club’s double header race weekend. There were some awesome battles for the top spot in Cadet 12 over the weekend and Gabriel walked away with 1st and 2nd place trophies in his awesome Energy Corse Australia and MG Engines package.
Day one was in reverse direction (clockwise) with random-reverse gridding format for the first two heats, all points counting for the podium. Gabriel’s day one results were as follows:
H1 – Started 10th, Finished 3rd
H2 – Started 5th, Finished 2nd
H3 – Started 2nd, Finished 2nd
Final – Started 2nd, Finished 2nd (Overall 2nd)
Day two was the action packed ProjectX Noisy Tour. The track was run anti-clockwise, again with random-reverse gridding. Gabriel was on fire on day two, attaining the following results:
H1 – Started 9th, Finished 2nd
H2 – Started 5th, Finished 1st
H3 – Started 1st, Finished 1st
Final – Started 1st, Finished 2nd (Overall 1st).
Dave Sera, that’s another two podiums in the books for kartclass!
As always, Warwick Kart Club put on a magic day, supported by the many volunteers and Officials who dedicated their time to run the meet. Many thanks to everyone who made the weekend possible.
18 Places in 8 Laps
April 2022
It was another massive field at Ipswich Kart Club on the weekend, with 32 competitors on the grid in Cadet 12. Who needs to go National when most of the AKC competitors come to your home track every club day? How lucky we are!
The racing order followed Format 17, meaning that the first two heat races were gridded by random draw, then by points, with the Final only counting for the podium.
Heat 1 saw Gabriel start way at the back in 30th position. He drove the socks off his kart all the way up into 12th by the end of the 8-lap race.
In Heat 2 Gabriel started 2nd on the grid and drove exceedingly well throughout the race to finish in 1st place.
Gabriel delivered another stellar performance in Heat 3, keeping with the top of the pack throughout the race, finishing 3rd.
Starting the Final well after 8pm in 7th position, Gabriel pushed hard, cutting the fastest lap by over three tenths. Gabriel was chasing down the front runners and making excellent progress when it all came to a halt. Due to a four-kart bingle, the race went into full course yellow in the first few laps and was red flagged soon after, preventing Gabriel from being able to move up through the field. He finished 6th, although he certainly seemed to have the pace to poll it in the Final.
Even though this wasn’t the finish we’d hoped for, there were heaps of positives to take away from the day along with some awesome learning experiences to help us come back even stronger.
Mother's Day Madness
May 2022
Where would you like to spend Mum’s special day? Yep, that’s right… the track! Luckily, my mum is just as crazy about racing as me, so we headed out to Warwick Kart Club for the Mother’s Day Meet.
Here’s a summary of our day…
Heat 1 – Gabriel started 20th and made some great passes to finish in 10th despite having some issues with equipment.
Heat 2 – Starting from pole, Gabriel showed some great pace, leading for most of the race and finished 1st.
Heat 3 – Hard work in the first two heats meant that Gabriel started in 4th for the pre-final, but a botched start saw the mid-pack storm through the front runners and despite the chaos, the race continued. Unfortunately, Gabriel had been shuffled down to into 9th position, but he made a good recovery and managed to regain some ground to finish in 5th.
Final – Gabriel started in 5th for the final and pumped out some great laps. He was in battle for 3rd throughout the race, ultimately finishing in 5th.
Many, many thanks to those who helped out to get Gabriel’s kart going this weekend. It was a bit of a tough one, but with your support we were still able to achieve a great result.
Thank you to all the mums who volunteered their time to support and officiate on the weekend. You are legends!
2nd Place Podium at IKC
May 2022
The patchy weather conditions at Ipswich Kart Club resulted in a wet first heat, drying but slippery for the second and a relatively slow track for the Pre-final and Final race.
With random grid determining the starting positions, Gabriel had to put his overtaking skills into action to make up positions.
Heat 1: Started from 17th position, finishing 5th.
Heat 2 from 9th, finishing 3rd.
Gabriel raced particularly well in the last two races to finish 2nd in both the Pre-final and the Final, earning him 2nd on the podium
On Point
June 2022
Gabriel competed in round 4 of the Club Championship at Ipswich Kart Club over the weekend. It was a cold and windy Saturday, with a damp track in the morning due to overnight rain. We were somewhat unprepared for the cold weather, but thankfully Graham from BTZD Teamwear. sorted us out with some awesome jackets to keep us warm.
Gridding was by random draw, reverse, points for the pre-final and points for the final, with final only counting for the overall win.
Heat 1 – Gabriel started in position 23rd out of 24 competitors, finishing in 9th.
Heat 2 – Starting out of 2nd, Gabriel was on the leader’s tail for most of the race. Unfortunately, the lap board countdown was incorrectly displayed to the frontrunners and the race was ended unexpectedly. This meant that Gabriel was unable to attempt a pass on his final lap and instead finished in 2nd place. Quite disappointing.
Heat 3 - The pre-final saw Gabriel starting out of 3rd position, rapidly making his way into 1st with an awesome double overtake out of turn one. He had the second fastest lap times for the heat, finishing the race in 2nd place.
Final - Gabriel’s hard work throughout the heats earned him a 3rd place start in the final. Gabriel was making tight a high-speed overtake into 3rd position and was in a passing overlap position when the other driver turned in and did not allow racing room. Attempting to avoid a collision, Gabriel’s kart launched over the curb, resulting in a DNF.
Despite some disappointing moments, Gabriel had an otherwise successful weekend. He certainly learned a lot and will come back even stronger! You can count on that.
Many thanks to the lovely Jenny of KAOS Karting for trackside sales and support. Thank you also to the volunteers who made the racing happen.
State Title Shakedown
June 2022
It was a windy and cold weekend at Warwick Kart Club for the State Title Shakedown meet. Luckily Gabriel had his new BTZD Teamwear. race skins to keep him warm!
Gabriel qualified 5th in a very competitive field of Cadet 12 drivers and finished in 4th in both Heat 1 and Heat 2. Starting from 4th in Heat 3, Gabriel drove his kart well, producing some excellent lap times.
The Final saw Gabriel start out of 4th and battle for positions throughout the race. Despite losing a position under full course yellow, Gabriel made a great restart and overtook on the last lap to regain 5th place.
With all points counting for the final result, Gabriel secured 4th place overall.
Well done Team 13!
Carnage Corner Steals State Title
July 2022
Constant rain on Friday and Saturday caused treacherous conditions at the QLD State Championship at Warwick Kart Club on the weekend. Despite getting off to a fantastic start, an incident in the pre-final stole Gabriel’s chance of a podium finish.
Here’s the detailed race report:
Qualifying – Gabriel qualified 5th out of 38 competitors in the wet.
Heat 1 – The Heat races started well, with Gabriel maintaining 5th place in constant rain.
Heat 2 – Gabriel started in 5th, but pole sitter was slow to get off the at the start and the odd side was swallowed up before the first corner, with Gabriel finishing in 13th.
Pre-Final – Gabriel started out of 9th for the pre-final and managed to overtake several karts in the first few corners, working his way into 7th position. Unfortunately, Gabriel was pushed into oncoming traffic by a kart re-entering the circuit on the first lap, and was collected by several other karts. Luckily, no one was injured. However, Gabriel was out of the race, along with several other competitors.
But the chaos didn’t stop there. In total, sixteen drivers ended up off the track – most of them on that same section of the circuit, AKA “Carnage Corner” – with the race eventually being red flagged.
Final – The Final saw Gabriel start out of 15th with renewed determination to work his way up as far as possible. Unfortunately, due to steering damage, Gabriel’s kart was impossible get on pace. Despite the extremely difficult circumstances, Gabriel drove very well until the end and never gave up. He even managed an overtake on the final corner, finishing in 17th.
Although it was a tough weekend, there were some amazing moments mixing it with some top drivers.
Many thanks to the officials, volunteers and media, along with our sponsors, partners and supporters, including:

What a Rollercoaster!
August 2022
It was Gabriel’s first Australian National Karting Competition as a Cadet 12 over the weekend in Newcastle and it was a massive three days of highs and lows.
Gabs worked hard in practice to get into the Upper group for qualifying, having the 7th fastest lap time in practice 5, starting him in 9th position for Qualifying (out of approx. 40 competitors).
His quali started well, popping it into 3rd early on. At the end of the session he was slotted into 14th, with only hundredths of a second between him and the 10 karts in front.
Despite the amazing start to the weekend, we just couldn’t find the pace on the race days and finished well down.
However, as one of the youngest kids in the Cadet 12 competition, Gabriel was stoked that he had the opportunity to race at such a challenging track and we all learnt a lot from the experience.
Bring on the next one!

Within Reach
August 2022
It was a massive Cadet 12 field this weekend at Ipswich Kart Club, with 36 competitors on the grid and Gabriel was on pace, pumping lap times worthy of a podium finish.
The starting grids for the day were determined by Format 17 (random, reverse, points, points), providing plenty of action for all drivers.
Here’s the race day breakdown:
Heat 1 – The first heat saw most drivers on wets in drizzly conditions. Gabriel started on pole and finished 4th, with the second fastest lap time of the race. There were certainly some improvements to be made, but it was a reasonable start to the day.
Heat 2 – Starting out of 33rd position, Gabriel was on pace and drove the socks off his kart to finish in 14th.
Pre-Final – Gabriel delivered a stellar drive in the third heat, starting out of 8th and powering through the field to finish in 2nd.
Final – Gabriel’s hard work earlier in the day earned him 4th starting position in the final. Unfortunately, the start was not the best and Gabriel fell into 8th. Despite pumping out a couple of awesome times in an attempt to make up places, Gabriel wasn’t able to recover the lost positions in the few remaining laps after the race was red flagged. Most importantly, no one was seriously injured in the incident, but it was a disappointing end to the day.
Although it was not the finish he’d hoped for, the podium is certainly within reach.
A special mention to all of our wonderful friends who lent a hand to get Gabriel's kart back together at the last race meet. You know who you are. Many thanks.

Brass Monkey
August 2022
Sunday’s racing was the “Brass Monkey” round at Warwick Kart Club and it sure was chilly! Despite the cold, Gabriel had a great day of racing with some excellent results, including a fastest lap time and close battles, finishing in 3rd at the end of the day.

Top 5 Finish
September 2022
There was another huge Cadet 12 field this weekend at Ipswich Kart Club, with 30 competitors on the grid. The starting grids for the day were determined by Format 17 (random, reverse, points, points) with the final only counting for the podium.
Gabriel was also super excited to receive his BTZD Teamwear. race suit this weekend and it looks awesome!
Saturday saw wet conditions for the start of the day and although we struggled getting on pace, Gabriel did some great starts and overtakes throughout the heat races. Starting out of 9th for the final, Gabriel pushed forward and finished in 5th.
A special thank you to Cian Fothergill of Energy Corse Australia for excellent chassis support and Jenny of KAOS Karting for the trackside sales with a smile.
Thank you to the officials, volunteers and media, along with our sponsors, partners and supporters, including:

Junior Top Guns Success
September 2022
What a fantastic weekend of racing against some great drivers! Gabriel competed in the prestigious Junior Top Guns event at Warwick Kart Club last weekend and he certainly brought it on.
Qualifying 2nd, Gabriel performed extremely well over the two days with the fastest lap times in all but one race.
It certainly was tough racing against some excellent competition. Despite being accidently punted from 2nd to 11th in Heat 1, verbally abused by a driver when he won a heat on Saturday and then run off the track on the main straight in Heat 4 on the last lap on Sunday, Gabriel remained focussed and pushed forward in each race to finish strong.
Gabriel actually won the Final, taking home 3rd place after a minor penalty.
It was indeed another action-packed weekend of kart racing and entertainment. There’s no denying that Gabriel drove the socks off his kart. Best of all, he had an awesome time doing it.
Many thanks to the media and Gabriel’s sponsors and supporters, including:
BTZD Teamwear. for excellent teamwear and fast race suits.
Ultratune Beenleigh for fantastic value and quality vehicle servicing.
Aussie Auto Spare Parts for all your car parts and service product needs.
Dave Sera and kartclass for expert driver training and advice.
KAOS Karting for friendly trackside sales and support.
Kev “the noise “ Davies commentary for the entertaining commentary and great photos.
The Capri Cup
October 2022
Gabriel competed in the Capri cup on the weekend at Ipswich Kart Club, celebrating the life and work of Alf and Maureen Capri. This event is very close to Gabriel’s heart as Alf always took the time to speak with Gabs, offer advice and share his vast knowledge and amazing stories of his experiences in karting. A top bloke! Thank you, Alf
Gabriel won the first heat and although a DNF (retirement) in one of the heats caused a major setback, Gabriel still raced his heart out, did some great lap times and a ton of overtakes, which is what it’s all about!
Heat one: (Grid by random order)
Gabriel started out of 4th position, getting off to an excellent start and remained in front to secure the win!
Heat 2: (Grid by reverse random order)
Starting from 31st, Gabriel raced the socks off his kart to bring it home in 13th!
Pre-Final: (Grid by points)
Gabs earned himself 4th place to start, but a massive punt in the rear in the first corner saw him launched and his chassis was badly bent, resulting in a DNF.
Final: (Grid by points)
The retirement from the pre-final added 30 points to his tally, pushing Gabs down to start in 14th for the Final. Unfortunately, Gabriel was hit as he was trying to avoid a collision on turn one. By the time the kart got moving, the entire field had escaped and were well ahead. Despite being dead last, Gabs drove like a demon and managed to claw his way up from 33rd to finish 17th.
Although it was not the result Gabriel had hoped for, he drove exceedingly well and enjoyed the weekend.
Many thanks to our friends, supporters and sponsors!

This One's for You!
November 2022
Last weekend Gabriel participated in the Ipswich Kart Club King or Queen titles, racing in memory of his uncle, Ofer, who sadly passed away last week. Ofer was one of Gab’s biggest fans and was always keen to hear about his driving.
Overall, it was a very successful weekend, seeing Gabriel standing on the podium in 3rd position at the end of the day.
We hope you enjoyed racing Uncle! This trophy is for you
